WHAT'S THIS ABOUT FLORIDA?
Thank you to everyone who has been with us every step of the way! I know this blog was intended to be the story of our adoption journey, but it's now become the story of life's journey. With that being the case, we are excited to let everyone know that Grant and I are moving to Bradenton, Florida! We are going to be working with all things kids at The Source Church! We are so thankful to have the opportunity to serve under the leadership there and we look forward to what God has in store. For all those who love visiting the beach, our house will always be open, but I can’t guarantee always clean!
SO HOW DOES THIS AFFECT THE ADOPTION?
We are still in the waiting stage of the adoption! Yes, we are daily looking for the perfect opportunity! Within the past month we've had a handful of opportunities come our way. Some of which we weren't the chosen family and for others it just wasn't a fit for us! With that being said, it has definitely been an emotional ride for Grant and I, but we know God has the perfect plan and we walk in that each day!
We are still going to work with our attorney in Baton Rouge. Should we be matched with a birth mom, we’ll be traveling back to Louisiana to complete the adoption once the baby is born. In the meantime, we’ll be working hard in Bradenton to find an opportunity there as well. If we are matched with a birth mom in Florida, we’ll be using a local attorney to finalize the adoption there.
We are going to continue looking for a birth mom on our own! We’ve contacted almost 25 agencies in the Baton Rouge and Bradenton area ALL of which charge an average fee of $33,000! This fee doesn’t even include the home study, attorney fee, or final closing costs. We’re looking at $40,000 or more to complete an adoption! Grant and I know the Lord is going to open a way for us to adopt for $20,000 or LESS! I have come in contact with families who have adopted for less than $20,000 and they assure us it’s a lot of work, but totally possible.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Also, if you come across anyone that might be considering adoption, CONNECT US! If it’s not the right situation for us, we have resources in Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida to help!
**THIS JUST CAME ON THE RADAR**
We were contacted this past weekend by our attorney who said he's working with a birth mom who is considering an adoption plan for her baby. She is due in December. We don't really know very many details, but our profile has been presented to her and we are waiting to see if this might be an opportunity for us! Please lift this situation up in prayer. Grant and I are asking for wisdom and discernment in whether or not this could be Baby Dew!
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT!
