Thank you to Grant's family for raising over $200 for Selvin to attend high school this year! Charlie and Griffin opened a lemonade and cookie stand friday and saturday in Halls, TN. THANK YOU BOYS-- you're making a HUGE impact on a young boys life in BELIZE! We are needing a total of $600 to get him through the first year of school. Any money raised beyond that will go to assist other students.
Current struggle: We recently had the honor of meeting the Minister of Education. He gave a speech to all the kids encouraging them to ATTEND HIGH SCHOOL, ATTEND HIGH SCHOOL. The only problem is, there are not enough high schools to support the kids to go. There are 2 high schools within an hours radius of us-- both of which are FULL. It's crazy to see kids being turned away from obtaining their education, when the Minister of Education preaches nothing but the importance of going to school and how he will do ANYTHING possible to get students enrolled. Sad story!
Little Side Note-- Grant and I had a lovely visitor stop by last night! The visit didn't end so well as the SCORPION was caught by a set of grill tongs and taken outside for execution (as Grant would say). Yep--- it was in my HOUSE!!! And NOPE-- I don't want to think about it!
Update on youth night: We had 52 students show up!! The group was so large we had a split Bible study. Now all we need is more help to help corral all the crazy kids before they push our house over! HA! (Any Takers?) It was such a blessing to meet many new faces. On top of all that we had several older students show up right as everyone was leaving. We noticed that they wanted to stay around so we invited them up to play Sequence. After talking with them we found out that there are many people their age that are not being reached by the churches here. So starting next Monday night we will begin hosting 16 to early 20 year olds for games and brownies. We also hope that this will turn into another ministry opportunity as we get to know these awesome young people!!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYER AND SUPPORT!!
